**The Role**
In this position, as a Technical officer in the ANZAC SPO, you will deliver continuity of technical assurance and governance through working with uniformed staff in a team, using your experience in ship repair/maintenance activities to analyse systems relating to naval ships.

You will be required to engage with contracted staff and will be required to identify stakeholders’ expectations and concerns as well as project risks and issues, drafting briefs to inform management. With Ship repair activities occurring across multiple sites in Australia, you will have the opportunity to travel interstate to engage with interstate colleagues and contribute to the wider capability focus of the branch.

You will bring a strong suite of analytical skills to the role and possess effective and clear communication skills. Whilst operating in a technical and regulated environment you will be responsible as a technical specialist to demonstrate strong negotiation and leadership skills, providing guidance to both the technical assurance leads and greater team to ensure the output of the team aligns to the organisations strategic direction.

You will play a pivotal role in identifying systemic issues, bringing these to the attention of key stakeholders and collaborating with such stakeholders to improve business practices and drive change.

**About our Team**
The Materiel Asset Assurance Section is a group of highly motivated and professional individuals that provide verification and validation of contract deliverables in support of the Defence Seaworthiness outcomes for ship repair activities across Platform, Combat, Logistics and Projects. We value team focused people with ideas and the ability to present them persuasively; as well as the drive and skills to see them implemented.

The team operates across Australia. You will be working primarily in the ANZAC SPO located in Rockingham in Western Australia. The main function of the Materiel Asset Assurance Section team is maintaining Safe and Seaworthy ANZAC Class Ships through governance, compliance and verification of ship repair tasking. This includes:

- Investigate, report and perform technical marine assessments,
- Provide technical, professional and policy advice,
- Work independently to achieve of outcomes,
- Contribute to planning, program and project management development, and
- Anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve work be accountable and contribute towards ongoing professional development.

- Application of technical knowledge and experience to identify risks,
- Ability to analyse and identify trends and opportunities for improvement and provide solutions,
