**About the Role**:
The Assistant Principal (AP) is key to driving and supporting the creation of a team culture that aligns to the Melbourne Polytechnic Strategic Plan and contributes to the creation of the MP Secondary Precinct at the Epping Campus. The MP Values (Welcoming, Curious, Collaborative and Accountable) will be at the core of this critical leadership position. This role will lead change and drive the growth of the VCE Vocational Major program at the Epping Campus.
This role provides visible educational leadership that contributes to the development and implementation of a future-focussed curriculum that encapsulates MP’s Education Principles (Applied, Integrated and Inquiry) and supports our learners to be successful and to develop core capabilities aligned to the MP Learner Capability Framework. By building and nurturing a high-performing team the AP will cultivate a collaborative environment where evidence-based practices are shared, and innovative ideas are actively pursued and implemented.
With both strategic insight and operational expertise, this position is key to driving the growth of the VCE Vocational Major program. Excellence in curriculum design, a culture of innovative teaching, and a learner-centred approach will provide opportunities for our secondary learners to thrive and succeed. Establishing and nurturing relationships with key internal and external stakeholders will be a critical function of this role.

- Contribute to Melbourne Polytechnic’s culture through consistently modelling the values (welcoming, curious, collaborative, accountable) and supporting staff to demonstrate these values.
- Lead the development of a culture of high expectations through the development of informed continuous improvement strategies in the best interests of learners.
- Lead the program to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all VCE Vocational Major learners.
- Lead processes to promote a learning and wellbeing culture that aligns with MP’s Learning & Wellbeing Framework.
- Drive and facilitate a culture of ongoing and job-embedded professional learning for staff.
**Educational**:
- Lead learning and teaching that links learning and integrated real-world learning opportunities through alignment with MP’s Education Principles (Applied, Inquiry, Integrated) and strategic plan.
- Oversee the development, implementation and evaluation of learning and teaching programs, assessment and reporting.
- Monitor practices to ensure alignment of curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and reporting.
- Lead and drive improvement outcomes for all learners by equipping and supporting teaching staff to analyse data and engage in inquiry-based cycles, enabling them to proactively develop and implement strategies that enhance learner engagement, attendance and progress.
- Evaluate team developmental needs and create opportunities for teachers to engage in reflective practice, meaningful professional sharing, discussion and collaboration focused on pedagogical practice.
- Lead teaching staff in the review, development and implementation of curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and reporting, through collaboration with the Secondary Curriculum, Learning and Teaching specialists.
- Research and advise on informed practices and strategies related to learning, teaching and assessment practices and guide continuous improvement.
- Research and recommend new technologies and innovations to enhance learning and teaching.
- Under the direction of the Principal VCE Vocational Major, oversee curriculum structures and delivery, ensuring that all VRQA, ASQA, VCAA and MP requirements are met.
