About the Role

This role has responsibility for the Procurement Pipeline development, Source to Contract strategies and commercial management of strategic and material contracts relating to the Customer Markets Business Units with annual addressable spend exceeding ~$220 million. To align with AGL’s strategic objectives, this portfolio includes the Sustainable Business Energy Solutions (SBES) pipeline, valued at ~$200 million, and supporting implementation of The Retail Next Program which is set to transform AGL into a nimble and efficient multi-service retailer at scale, delivering simplicity for our people and exceptional experiences for our customers.

As part of the Strategic Procurement Leadership Team, and leading a team of procurement professionals, this role will achieve success through effective influencing and collaboration with key stakeholders and procurement representatives when developing and executing strategic plans for complex and major addressable spend initiatives. It will provide dynamic procurement leadership in a highly changing environment to deliver commercial outcomes across AGL, including taking the lead in negotiation strategy whilst ensuring governance across supplier activity.

What you’ll be doing:

- Lead, motivate and develop a team of procurement professionals to drive the achievement of performance expectations, career progression and talent retention by creating an environment that enables others to perform at their best and develop the key capabilities required for growth and success
- Influence the Customer Leadership Teams in driving an optimal operating and workforce planning model which invests in and develops capability, promotes key skills, collaboration, and flexibility, and enhances the overall value proposition of procurement
- Partner with Customer Leadership Teams to contribute to the development of business cases and support for growth initiatives for the Customer pipeline and SBES projects which achieve optimal commercial and procurement outcomes
- Advise and influence key Customer business stakeholders in the formation of effective sourcing strategies and negotiation plans which deliver the required benefit and risk outcomes
- Adopt framework, drive participation, and endorse procurement and category plans, and sourcing and negotiation strategies at a group level to leverage purchasing power
- Lead negotiations on key sourcing activities to optimize commercial outcomes, benefits realization and value creation
- Drive supplier development and innovation for material and strategic suppliers across the business, including the development and implementation of social license aligned Customer Procurement initiatives in support of diversity and indigenous procurement
- Manage risk associated with external spend including commercial and contractual risk through effective governance in sourcing and contract management expertise
- Lead strategic supplier relationship management program across Customer to improve supplier contract compliance performance in accordance with management standards
- Ensure commercial sustainability by influencing supplier management and driving procurement-based saving opportunities, addressable spend and cost reduction targets

About You

What you’ll bring to the table:

- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including; highly developed written and presentation skills
- Must display and demonstrate an inherent ability to use effective negotiating and influencing skills in a collaborative manner
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with key internal stakeholders and external strategic suppliers
- Significant leadership experience within large-scale matrix organisation, including proven ability to develop talent and improve engagement.
- Able to present and interact at senior management and Board level
- Effective project management skills
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills and strong understanding of risk management
- Proven experience in developing complex sourcing and negotiation Strategies, with a successful track record in delivery
- Demonstrated understanding of best practice procurement processes
- Demonstrated ability to navigate team through times of disruption and change
- Tertiary qualifications associated with Commerce, Business or Law is preferred
