**About the organisation**
The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) is the independent statutory authority responsible for ensuring that schools, employers of apprentices and trainees and providers of education and training meet quality standards, and that information is readily available to support informed choice in education and training. Governed by an independent board that reports to the Minister for Education, the Minister for Skills and Tafe, and the Minister for Economic Growth, the VRQA helps support education and training in Victoria.
**About the role**
The Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO), Training and Skills, provides high-level strategic advice on relevant regulatory matters to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the VRQA Board, and its committees. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for fulfilling significant duties delegated by the CEO and the VRQA Board, including leading complex regulatory reviews or investigations and implementing regulatory reform. The role is accountable for the leadership and management of designated regulatory functions within the training and skills sector, including Vocational Education and Training (VET) and Apprenticeships, and Traineeships. This DCEO oversees a large team of circa 50 staff across 4 business units: Apprenticeship Field Services, Apprenticeship Administration Unit, Apprenticeship Regulatory Services and VET Industry and Engagement. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the DCEO will also contribute to the organisation's performance and culture, supporting people, organisational development, and driving innovation.

Diplomatic, collaborative, and an experienced leader, you are widely respected for your ability to build and contribute to high-performing teams. You thrive in delivering results within education or other service-driven sectors, ideally with experience in the public sector. With a deep understanding of contemporary regulatory and legislative frameworks, you are skilled at navigating complex environments and have experience working with Boards or similar governance structures. Recognised as a team player who balances strategic thinking, critical analysis, and operational insight, you are an effective communicator and a proven problem solver, presenting with professionalism and authority. Your well-established career showcases sound judgement and a strong alignment with values, particularly in delivering results within people-focused, regulatory settings. You see this role and regulation as contributing to positive outcomes for the Victorian community in education, skills, and training.
