The Northern Specialist Family Violence Service (NSFVS) is the lead provider for the integrated family violence service system in the Northern Metropolitan sub-region. The NSFVS provides support services to victim survivors of family violence and their children inclusive of cis gendered heterosexual women and, their children; and people from the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer Community (LGBTIQ+) and their children.

We help victim survivors stay in their community safely wherever possible to live a life free of violence, while also addressing their emotional and practical needs and issues arising from the violence.

We know it is important that people are listened to, believed, and treated with respect. We help our service users to review their situation, resources and strengths and support them to make their own decisions about their circumstances.

**Key Responsibilities**

The primary objective of Specialist Family Violence Practitioner is to:

- The position includes family violence capacity building activities, secondary consultation, family violence training and attendance at networks, as identified in consultation with the Community Programs Team Leader.
- The practitioner will engage with key service providers in the Northern Region as required with a focus on providing early intervention responses and capacity building to services working with early years services and universal services.
- This role will support referrals into the family violence service system and provide brief, intermediate and intensive specialist family violence responses as appropriate.
- Full time practitioners hold a case load of 8-9 complex families and complete comprehensive risk assessments with adult victim survivors and children in accordance with Victoria’s Multi Agency Risk assessment and management (MARAM) framework.
- Work with victim survivors and their children with an intersectional feminist framework to identify and achieve goals.
- Provide support to the case management and community leadership team as required including supporting covering staff leave, case consults and other duties as required.

**About You**
- Have an understanding of the gendered nature of family violence and its impact on women and their children.
- The specialised level of this role will require the ability to be able to reflect and analyse complex situations arising in specialist family violence casework and the commitment to working.
- Collaboratively with the capacity to negotiate and liaise with other agencies and the community.
