**About the opportunity**

We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic person for a permanent, full-time opportunity to lead our team to ensure our water sensitive urban design (WSUD) assets and other aquatic ecosystems are maintained to the highest standard, comply with legislation and WHS regulations as well as Councils' safety systems. Your expertise will guide your team as they work efficiently and effectively to meet the diverse needs of our community.

You will:

- Supervise and mentor staff, trainees, apprentices and contractors in the area of conservation and ecosystem management, horticulture or related fields
- Ensure daily reporting of all hazards, for all Council Assets and where possible act to rectify and or make hazards safe
- Oversee the allocation of resources (for example. staff, equipment, materials) on a day to day basis within programs and rosters to achieve objectives and ensure teams are efficiently and effectively resourced.

**Qualifications and experience**

**Essential**:

- Minimum Cert III in Conservation and Ecosystem Management, Horticulture or related area
- Solid experience working in natural areas and maintenance of water sensitive urban design assets, and associated turfed areas, gardens and aquatic garden areas.
- Solid experience in the supervision of staff undertaking such work.
- Chemical Application AQF 4 or equivalent - Class MR Driver’s Licence.
- WHS General Induction Certificate (white card)
- Knowledge of appropriate legislation/regulations
- Good verbal and written communication.

**Desirable**:

- Experience liaising with contractors
- Experience with aquatic weed control
- Chainsaw operation certificate of competence
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- RTA approved Traffic Controller Accreditation.
- Bush regeneration experience.

**Remuneration and benefits**

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
- Entry level for this position starts at $1,451.97 per week
- 38-hour working week
- Rostered Day Off (RDO) every fortnight
