- The Executive Manger Engineering - Financial Experiences role sits within the Financial Services business. The Financial Services business is segmented into two tribes:
- Financial Experience (FinX) Engage & Leads - seeking to unlock our audience leadership position to drive a compelling and engaging digital home loans experience. Critical to unlocking the FS strategy, the FinX tribe also has carriage of our shared data across the Financial Services Business.-
- Broker Experience (BrokerX) - working to have the best broker operation in Australia (Mortgage Choice) underpinned by technologies that drive productivity and efficiencyThese products and services are implemented through a range of systems, technologies and partners, including over fifty in-house systems built in a range of technologies such as Java, javascript,.Net and an emerging native mobile capability.

The Executive Manager of Engineering - FinX reports directly into the GM Software Engineering and is a member of both the FS Technology Leadership Team, as well as the broader REA Group Technology Leadership Team.

What the role is all about- Team: Building a large, high performing engineering team. Team size will vary over time; currently it is composed of 4 squads with approximately 40+ people.-
- Strategy: Ensuring there are long range technology plans in place, driven and aligned with strategy. Specifically, transformational change is required in the data domain.-
- Engineering practice: You will build an effective engineering team practice. This includes the systems operations and systems health of your portfolio. You will put in place the processes for sustainable operations, meeting service level objectives.-
- Market Outcomes: Our Financial Services portfolio of products operates in a highly competitive market and delivering products to market with a sense of urgency is critical to success. Harnessing the power of the real estate audience to power the financial services business is key to the success of Financial Services.-
- System of work: Alongside peers, you will establish org structures & operating rhythms that deliver a common vision for our strategic objectives and effective processes for day-to-day operations-
- Major program delivery: Initiating and guiding major projects to achieve great outcomes.-
- Reporting & Stakeholders: Engaging senior stakeholders through insightful reporting of operations, programs, risks and outcomes.-
- Risk: Keeping our customer information safe and our services available and compliant is a key priority. This role will manage portfolio risk in collaboration with REA’s risk team.-
- Managing investment: You are accountable for a large financial investment in your portfolio; you will manage costs and as appropriate make business cases to meet business objectives.-
- Culture: You will create a culture of engagement, accountability, learning and development.-
- Product Knowledge: The portfolio of products is complex; you will develop your own and your team’s understanding of these products and our product strategy.-
- Tech community: You and your team’s contribution to the tech community beyond your immediate portfolio.- Above all, this is a leadership role. You not only lead the engineering function, but you are also a leader of the cross-functional FinX portfolio and a member of both the Financial Services Technology leadership team, and the broader REA Technology Leadership team.

Who we’re looking for- Experience leading multi-squad high performing engineering teams (commensurate with the scope of this role)-
- Someone who can engage deeply with technologists; potentially you have a technical background.-
- Experience working with sensitive information in a highly regulated environment-
- Prior experience leading complex programs of work and managing cross team dependencies at scale-
