The Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) was established in a critical act of self-determination over 50 years ago as part of the Aboriginal rights protest movement. We provide high-quality, culturally safe legal and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout NSW and the ACT, and fight for social justice and equity for our communities.

**What Will You Do?**
In this role, you will be an integral and valued member of a highly skilled and high-performing Criminal Law Practice.
- Providing and coordinating a high level of complex paralegal and administration support for the Criminal Law Solicitors.
- Assist clients with non-court matters and referrals.
- Organise client files and documentation including input of data into client databases, including opening, closing, archiving files and other general data entry.
- Assist in managing the reception area and operate the office phone system

**Who Are We Looking For?**
A highly skilled and motivated individual with a thorough understanding of the cultural, social, and historical needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You will be able to demonstrate:

- Demonstrated experience in preparing and drafting correspondence, briefs of evidence, affidavits, court reports and other legal documents.
- Demonstrated experience in the continuing respect and support for Aboriginal cultural practices in dealing with clients, their families and communities.
- In-depth knowledge of support and referral services available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients involved in the criminal justice system.
- Proven computer systems skills and excellent oral/written communication skills
