Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital and major referral centre. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH collaborates with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The gastroenterology unit at the Royal Hobart Hospital is the largest in the state with a current complement of 9 consultants, 2 registrars and 2 junior medical officers. The successful appointment to this position will increase consultant full-time equivalents to 7.5. The unit provides the usual inpatient management of gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary services to GE unit in-patients with consultation services to all other units in the hospital, outpatient services across general gastroenterology, IBD and hepatology are also routinely provided as are all the usual gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures including ERCP and EUS. On call frequency will be 1:8.

**The Role**
- Provide a consultant role in Gastroenterology.
- Provide inpatient and outpatient care to public and private patients of the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) in Gastroenterology.
- Be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and to be actively involved in research.
- Undertake quality improvement activities.

**Salary**
- Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award_

A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.

Base salary points range* for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $216,300 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $296,640 with further salary increments available.
- _Salary range effective 1 January 2025 as per the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022_
