**The Team**

The Communications and Engagement team delivers internal and external communications, community consultation, public relations and media management services and strategies for Council. **The Role**

Reporting to the Coordinator Communications and Engagement, the Community Engagement Officer, contributes to developing and implementing community engagement activities such as surveys, focus groups, workshops and interactive activities to build positive relationships with the local community, businesses, resident groups and individuals.

In this role you will gain experience and undertake a variety of tasks related to the Communications and Engagement team, which includes:

- maintaining Council’s online engagement platform and supporting communication channels
- collaborating with and supporting Council’s Directorates in preparing and facilitating community consultation.
- producing a regular newsletter on the engagements and consultations underway
- assisting with community communications to improve the community’s awareness of, and engagement with, projects
- analyse data in regards to ongoing community issues, concerns and activities
- develop and implement appropriate events and presentation materials to positively promote Council’s projects

**Who You Are**

We’re looking for someone with demonstrated experience in developing Community Engagement, Education and Communication, Plans and delivering community engagement activities. You are someone who has excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to produce and edit written material of a high standard without supervision.

Essential Criteria
- Sound understanding of data gathering methodologies and experience in data analysis and reporting.
- A sound working knowledge of the Local Government Act 1993.
- Demonstrated experience in the management of expectations including consultation with stakeholders to ensure best possible fit between Council and community requirements and project outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in dealing with sensitive, confidential and sometimes controversial information.
- Demonstrated high-level organisation skills, including ability to set work priorities and meet predetermined deadlines and commitments.
- Ability to anticipate workflow and employ innovative responses to high workloads and complex issues.
- Flexibility in coping with changing work requirements and practices.
- Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to issues which are, at times, of a sensitive nature.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive, collaborative and service-oriented relationships.
- Strong commitment to delivering quality customer service
- Must be fully vaccinated (minimum 2 doses) with an approved COVID-19 vaccine and provide Council with evidence of vaccination, or an accepted certified medical contraindication. Council reserves the right to confirm the validity of contraindications in accordance with NSW Health guidelines, and to direct a Worker to undertake an independent medical examination in relation to the issuance of a medical contraindication certificate.

**About the opportunity and what we can offer you**
- Permanent, Full-Time
- 70 hours per fortnight
- Salary from $72,980.48 - $84,559.01 per annum plus 10.5% superannuation
