About the role
Baptcare has a professional spiritual care team of over 30 Chaplains/Spiritual Care Coordinators as well as trained pastoral care volunteers working in all service areas. We are looking for an experienced, articulate, and competent Spiritual Care Professional to work in Locum roles supporting our Residential Aged Care Facilities and In-Home Care Teams.
Typically, a deployment to a Locum role would be for several weeks to several months while one of our team members is on leave or a vacancy is extended. The focus of this position is carrying out short term spiritual and emotional care support for our elderly residents and clients in their homes, as well as some support of staff.
**Duties**:
Initial and subsequent appraisals of the religious, pastoral, and spiritual wellbeing of a person and/or family.
The provision of support and spiritual guidance to individuals which may include establishing a relationship and practical support and/or advocacy, referral, and guidance.
Informal ritual and worship activities for individuals or small groups, plus more formal expressions of public worship and ritual.
Education tasks including the training and development of staff in spiritual care and missional principles and practice.
**Skills and experience**:
Minimum two years’ experience in providing pastoral/spiritual care to people in a community or aged care context.
Spiritual and theological maturity and open-mindedness and an understanding of a range of religious and spiritual traditions is essential.
Leadership experience in a faith or local community context is desirable.
Tertiary theological qualification and Clinical Pastoral Education (min 2 units) or equivalent.
Demonstrated ability to work sensitively in a culturally diverse environment
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the capacity to explain the practice and possibilities of pastoral and spiritual care to people from varied backgrounds
Experience and skills in administrative duties including data collection and reporting on outcomes
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision, as well as part of a team
Competent in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Teams software.
Certified Membership of Spiritual Care Australia will be highly regarded.
