**About Spiritual Care**

The Spiritual Care team at The Royal Women’s Hospital (RWH) supports people through the spectrum of their maternity, neonatal, gynaecology and oncology experience. Providing presence in both inpatient and outpatient areas, RWH Spiritual Care is a service for patients, significant others (and staff) from all communities, that is inclusive of all beliefs, traditions, values and practices. As valued members of the wider team, in addition to direct clinical aspects of the role, our spiritual care practitioners contribute to holistic health care through discussion and education, working closely with multi-disciplinary teams. Provision of bereavement care and facilitation of related ritual are a major component of services offered, the foci of Spiritual Care being: listening, presence, emotional and spiritual support, provision of personally significant ritual, meditation or prayer and/connection to community. Our office is located within the Women’s Welcome Centre on the ground floor and we currently offer a Monday - Friday service.

**About the role**

We are currently seeking an experienced and qualified Spiritual Care Practitioner to join our team on a casual basis. You will be working within a Trauma Informed framework and will be responsible for the provision of high quality, effective, responsive support to a range of people. In this role you will provide meaningful high quality, effective, culturally relevant support for the Royal Women's community, patients, family and staff.

A regular day will see you:

- Working independently and as part of a team
- Providing visible spiritual care presence
- Responding to referrals for inpatients or outpatients, providing timely assessment and intervention (initial contact and follow up)
- Providing bereavement support and rituals of significance
- Meeting people in locations throughout the hospital and on the phone
- Liaising with faith community and others regarding patient requests
- Contributing to planning or facilitation of bi-monthly funeral ceremonies (honoring pre term baby loss)
- Participating in multidisciplinary team meetings, staff meetings and other meetings or education as required

**About you**

You’ll bring with you:

- Membership/eligibility for membership of Spiritual Care Australia (SCA) at “Certified Level” or above
- Essential qualifications and formation in Spiritual Care (refer to the Position Description)
- Demonstration of continuing professional education and commitment to ongoing professional supervision as stipulated by SCA.
- Proven experience in providing spiritual care support in complex healthcare settings.
- Knowledge and experience working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills
- Commitment to gender equity, respect and an understanding of violence against women and family violence issues
- Current Working with Children’s Check
- COVID and other vaccinations as required by the Royal Womens' Hospital policies and procedures
- Previous experience in maternity and/women’s health settings would be most desirable
