- JOB PURPOSE/ROLE

HCF is embarking on a large transformation program of work. Our design team is looking for an exceptional end-to end Lead to guide and help a small team of UX designers and UI designers in a hands-on fashion if needed.

Experience in both UX processes, artifacts, research, and UI design, Design Systems, and handovers is a must. Deep knowledge in both native apps and responsive web technologies is also required.

HCF needs to redesign both a native, customer-facing app, and its web-based companion Online Member Services portal. Both are self-servicing platforms accessed by our existing HCF members to make claims, review their cover, and more. The web based HCF portal itself will also be redesigned very soon.

Successful concept studies have recently been carried out. We will need to produce the end-to-end experience and deliverables from scratch, based on the concept studies and the existing products.

The profile has a very strong focus on mobile-first design, is knowledgeable about the specifics of the latest app and web technologies, tailoring the interaction design to various device types and input modalities.

Experience managing UX and UI designers is a must. This role can be hands-on at times.

Strong experience in UX activities such as requirements gathering, journey mapping, interaction design, usability testing, prototyping, and translating them into artifacts ready for hand-over is required. UI design knowledge is required as well for the team to output development-ready deliverables and documentation, while maintaining, getting approval for, and socialising new components created within HCF Design System.

You will bring all stakeholders on a journey, collaborating closely with BAs, System Architects, Brand, Content, Development, and many more.

It’s a very exciting and prominent project for HCF, and a great case study for mature designers to prove their leadership and design skills.
- KEY TASKS
- Following direction on processes, tools, deadlines. Regularly reporting progress, presenting, and accommodating feedback from the Design Chapter Lead.
- Managing a team of UX and UI designers, maintaining a positive culture and constructive mindset, educating them where needed, daily meetings with the team to gauge progress, regularly conducting design reviews, providing them with guidance, having regular one on ones with them to help them and prevent issues.
- Hands-on UX and UI design work and contributing to projects in hands on UX Design capability.
- Foreseeing possible issues, defining and improving the design process, ultimately ensuring that the projects stay on track to deliver quality solutions on time.
- Regularly engage with stakeholders, offer solutions, conduct workshops, present progress to the team, and taking feedback onboard.
- Ensure that the team translates concepts into wireframes and mock-ups that lead to intuitive user experiences.
- Help defining the app’s UX and UI through your—and your team’s—workshops, user research, flow charts, sketches, wireframes, and interactive prototypes for native and web user experiences optimised for a wide range of devices and interaction models.
- Ensuring that our new Design System’s existing components are used, defining new ones where necessary, documenting them, and collaborating with Brand for reviews, and socialising them with Development for handing them over.
- Make strategic design decisions related to core and new functions.
- Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions tailored to our members.
- Take a user-centred design approach and rapidly test and iterate the solutions with our members on a regular cadence.
- Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to extract requirements, devise cross-functional solutions, and handing them over.
- Leading and conducting usability, content, tree testing with HCF members.
- Stakeholder walkthroughs and presentations.
- Ensuring post-implementation reviews for both UX and UI are carried out.
