**The Role**
We’re looking for a high performing individual that likes variety, solving problems and is keen to effect change. Working to the Program Director (EL2) and closely with the Procurement and Grants Advisory Team, in this role you will lead and or support a range of initiatives to:

- build procurement and grants capability within the department
- improve procurement and grants related procedures, processes and reporting
- support the program areas delivering highly sensitive, complicated and or high value strategic procurements.
- **Phase 2 of the Better Practice Commissioning Program**: Following on from Phase 1 which saw the Commissioning Categorisation Framework developed and implemented, Phase 2 will focus on embedding change
- ** Project managing the implementation of new and changed procurement related policies**:New and changed policies require consultation, updated templates and guidance, training and communication and often new reporting capability

**Skills and Capabilities**
- experience playing a leading role in formal project or program delivery (i.e. those with project plans, timelines, budgets, status reporting, etc)
- being highly organised, including having the ability to effectively prioritise and achieve deadlines
- able to effectively make critical assessments and solve complex problems
- high attention to detail
- the ability to communicate with influence, both orally and in writing
- a flexible and adaptable approach with a high level of resilience
- ability to productively work with limited direction, including having honed judgement of when to involve senior executive for assistance and or visibility
- experience drafting succinct meeting papers, briefs, reports, etc and (with support) presenting to senior management
- an understanding of government corporate governance requirements
- a track record of initiating, establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- ideally (but not essential) an understanding of Commonwealth procurement and or grants processes, policy and reporting.

**The Opportunity**
This position is available to Ongoing Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and/or APS employees as a temporary transfer at level and/or a temporary performance (Acting) opportunity for a period of 6 months.
