This position leads Council’s environmentally sustainable design and Planning practice for both private developments and Council’s assets within the municipality. This dynamic role ensures lasting environmental outcomes through providing expert advice and collaborating across departments to implement Council’s ESD policies, practices and actions.

**About the Role**
Lead Council’s environmentally sustainable design and planning practice to foster a collaborative and empowered culture that embraces best practice Environmentally Sustainable Development (ESD) across the organisation.

This role provides expert advice and builds capacity internally to the statutory business unit and assists developers and planning permit applicants to use the ESD assessment tools to ensure best practice.
- Ensures up to date sustainable design requirements for council and community developments
- Maintains and develops partnerships and networks across the sector
- Supports Council to meet climate mitigation and resilience goals through ESD policy, practice and actions
- Builds the capacity of Council staff of ESD best practice through training, advice and process development

**Skills & Experience**
- Tertiary experience in Environmental Engineering, Sustainable Design, Planning, Architecture, or similar discipline
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in planning, environment, sustainability, and urban design
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in current built environment rating tools and software
- A current Working with Children Check
