Hope Island, Australia The Children's House Full time

We're looking for a special someone who'd love to help keep a calm, beautiful and organised space for our children and team to thrive in. Early childhood qualifications welcome but not necessary - this role is specifically to support our service in daily upkeep and presentation - a Children's House-keeper if you will :)

If you are interested in studying along the way, traineeship options are also available. $27-$32 per hour permanent part time.

Position Title: Care Guide

Reports to: Centre Director

Location: Hope Island Montessori - The Children’s House

Classification: Support Role (Centre-Based), Permanent Part TimeHours: Part-time 1.30-5.30 Mon - Fri

Purpose of the Role

The Care Guide ensures that every space within Hope Island Montessori reflects beauty, calm, and order. This role upholds the Montessori principle that the environment is an educator in itself, preparing, maintaining, and curating each area so that it feels inviting, purposeful, and cared for.

The Care Guide works closely with the educators to support the presentation of materials, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere, ensuring the environment consistently reflects our values of respect, grace, and simplicity.

Environment Care and Presentation

Maintain the presentation and cleanliness of the kitchen and shared areas throughout the afternoon. Ensure materials are clean, complete, and displayed with aesthetic order. Replace and refresh flowers, and care for plants as needed.

Support to Educators

Collaborate with director and room leaders to ensure closing tasks are complete and outdoor environment is reset at the end of the day. Assist in replenishing supplies and identifying repair needs. Support the preparation of spaces for special events or visitors.

Atmosphere and Presentation

Ensure the centre’s shared spaces (entry, kitchen, bathrooms, garden paths) reflect care and attention to detail. Monitor the presentation of noticeboards, displays, and signage to ensure they remain tidy and reflect the centre’s vision.

Centre Pride and Culture

Model respect for the environment and the care of shared materials. Encourage a culture of mindfulness, order and beauty among staff and children. Support the Director in small aesthetic projects or improvements across the centre.

Skills and Qualities

Strong sense of visual order and attention to detail with effective cleaning and organisation. Calm and nurturing approach. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Reliable, organised, and takes pride in maintaining a beautiful environment.
