**About the team**:
The Strategic Policy Division ensures coherence across the portfolio and alignment with government priorities. We do this by building connections, identifying emerging issues and strategic opportunities, and influencing policy agendas.

The Ministerial and Executive Enabling Branch provides a range of support and assistance to the Executive and our Ministers. This includes driving the strategic planning and reporting framework, parliamentary, Ministerial, governance and Cabinet support, portfolio coordination and appointments advice. It is at the heart of the department and enables Ministers, the Executive and broader department to achieve outcomes.
- The _**_Cabinet and Ministerial Liaison Team_**_ _supports the Department and its portfolio Ministers to participate in the Cabinet process. This includes coordinating Cabinet Submission drafts and accompanying briefs, lodging comments, advising departmental staff on Cabinet processes, and assisting with Ministerial Support tasks when required.

**The opportunity**

The EL1 Cabinet Liaison Officer role provides an excellent opportunity to gain insight into the Government’s policy agenda, the Cabinet process, key departmental priorities and exposure to Ministerial Offices (MO) and the department's Senior Executive. You will gain oversight of the breadth of the Industry, Science and Resources portfolio and build a strong network within the department. You will have a close working relationship with MOs, the network of CLOs across the APS and senior executives.

Prior experience with parliamentary, ministerial and/or Cabinet processes is desirable, but not essential.

**What you will do**:
The Assistant Manager will oversee the daily operation of Cabinet team, while supporting the Department and its portfolio Ministers. To obtain this, the assistant manager will need to provide guidance and support to staff within the team, provide advice to staff within the department and manage stakeholder engagement. Accompanying this, you will need to negotiate persuasively, use sound judgeme
