**Flexible Work**

At PM&C we recognise the broad benefits of offering flexibility in how, when and where work is performed. We consider flexibility first from a starting position of ‘how can we make this work?’ and consider individual circumstances and operational requirements in making genuine attempts to establish mutually beneficial arrangements. Please reach out to the contact officer if you would like to explore what flexibility might look like for you, such as part time work, variable start and finish times or working from home.

**Who we are**

Cabinet Division operates in a dynamic environment at the heart of government, providing a range of functions to ensure the smooth functioning of the Cabinet, its committees and the Federal Executive Council. The work is interesting and challenging, often fast-paced and has a high degree of autonomy and visibility both within PM&C and across the Australian Public Service. You will have the opportunity to work with skilled and experienced colleagues and leaders in a supportive and collaborative work environment.

Cabinet Operations is part of the Cabinet Secretariat Branch in Cabinet Division. Cabinet Operations manage the distribution of Cabinet documents, the attendance of ministers, ministerial staff and officials at meetings and the preparation and distribution of meeting decisions (minutes). Experience in Cabinet Division will position you well for future career development and is well regarded both in PM&C and the broader Australian Public Service.

**What you will do**

We are looking to fill roles in the Distribution and Cabinet Attendant teams in Cabinet Operations.

As an APS Level 5 or 6 in the Distribution Team you will be responsible for:

- Lodging and distributing Cabinet documents through the CabNet+ system.
- Managing Cabinet documents in a secure and appropriate manner and in accordance with the Cabinet Handbook and information security protocols.
- Building and maintaining respectful and professional internal and external working relationships with PM&C policy teams and with Cabinet Liaison Officers (CLOs) in other departments (the CLO network).
- Providing advice and support on Cabinet arrangements and processes to the PM&C Executive, PM&C policy teams and the CLO network.
- Supporting Cabinet Division and PM&C Executives in the preparation for Cabinet and Cabinet Committee meetings.
- Contributing to business process improvement and CLO network development.

There are occasions where Cabinet Liaison Officer staff will need to be available to work out outside of ordinary business hours, at weekends and public holidays. CLOs receive an additional allowance (currently $22,700 per annum) in recognition of the need for these additional hours of duty expected, and in lieu of flex-time, overtime and time-off-in-lieu.

As an APS Level 5 or 6 in the Cabinet Attendant Team you will be responsible for:

- Coordinating attendance of ministers, ministerial staff, senior officials and official note takers at Cabinet and Cabinet Committee meetings.
- Providing administrative support for Cabinet and Cabinet Committee meetings, including through liaison with ministers’ offices and senior APS officials.
- Preparing the forward Cabinet calendar and scheduling upcoming Cabinet and Cabinet Committee meetings in CabNet+, in consultation with the Prime Minister’s office and the Cabinet Secretary’s office.
- Leading project management and coordination of Cabinet and Cabinet Committee meetings held interstate.
- Overseeing the use of the Cabinet Suite for non-Cabinet related engagements including Guest of Government Visits and other meetings.

The Cabinet Attendant role requires out of hours duty and has regular on-call arrangements.

**What you will bring**
- Is flexible and resilient, and thrives working in a fast-paced work environment.
- Builds and maintains positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Demonstrates strong problem solving abilities and has good attention to detail.
- Acts professionally in all situations, exercising good judgement, tact and discretion.
- Fosters an inclusive, supportive environment and actively contributes to this culture.

Previous experience in ministerial, parliamentary or related roles would be highly valued for the Cabinet Attendant position and would also be relevant for the Distribution position.
