Western Health’s (WH) Unified Communications Administrator will perform a variety of technical and administrative tasks related to planning, implementing and maintaining Western Health’s telephone, Audio Visual / Video Conferencing systems, messaging and IP networking system. The incumbent will provide supervision and technical direction to technicians ensuring the successful operation of telecommunications and network infrastructure between and at all sites. The incumbent will be responsible for administration of a wide variety of traditional phone systems and communications servers. The role will engage in consulting and technical projects which involve telephone and IP networking system.

The Unified Communications Administrator will be involved in the planning, design, commissioning and monitoring of voice/PABX/telecommunications networks. The incumbent is responsible for a broad range of voice/PABX/telecommunications and security equipment from complex electronic switching systems through to telephone systems and fibre optics. The Unified Communications Administrator will have an in-depth knowledge of the telecommunications industry. The incumbent may work autonomously and will often work on systems and equipment that are new and complex. As with most administrators, the incumbent is expected to provide the best solution for the lowest cost to the institution. This often calls for the identification of creative solutions to problems. An important responsibility of this position is keeping records of the equipment and facilities the company is using.
