In this role you will be providing coordination and oversight of the design activities across multiple road related projects.

**The Role**:
Reporting to the Engineer Manager, you will be providing coordination and oversight of the design activities across multiple road related projects.
- In conjunction with MRPV's Delivery team, work with the nominated Contractor and its Design Consultants to develop cost effective design solutions, which provide time and cost certainty and can be delivered with mínimal impact on stakeholders, traffic and the community.
- Ensure the Contractors produce designs which meet the State's scope and specification requirements and can be easily accepted and maintained by the Department of Transport (DOT) at completion.
- Engage with MRPV's Technical Advisor for support in development of design solutions, and actively manage their deliverables and outputs to ensure tasks are completed to the desired quality, timeline and budget.
- Provide high level technical advice to MRPV's project delivery team on complex engineering issues, related to road design, civil structures, drainage, pavements and other civil infrastructure disciplines, including the identification and management of technical risks.

**About you**
- Sound communication skills, including the ability to negotiate effectively, resolve complex design issues and build strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong technical expertise in road design and design management/coordination.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, functional design and design delivery of major civil infrastructure projects (ideally locally).
- Ability to anticipate potential outcomes/consequences of design engineering on projects and implement immediate mitigating strategies.
- Tertiary qualification (Bachelor's Degree) in an Engineering or Science related discipline is mandatory.
