**About us**

Queensland Hydro is a publicly owned entity established by the Queensland Government to design, deliver, operate and maintain long duration pumped hydro energy storage assets that will be the cornerstone for the transformation of the state’s energy system.

We are playing a critical role in helping to meet the Queensland Government’s renewable energy targets and net zero emissions by 2050, to provide the long-term storage and reliability needed to power Queensland’s clean energy future

Following the recent announcement of Queensland’s Energy and Jobs Plan, we are now building our team to develop these exciting projects.

**The role**

Reporting to the Head of PMO you will maximise business outcomes by effectively controlling and monitoring program costs and forecasting against the program budget. The position will provide commercial and strategic advice, analytical oversight, support and guidance to project management. Responsibilities will include:

- Development and implementation of cost and reporting plans, processes and tools.
- Overseeing and further developing the project cost control function ensuring adherence to the program framework.
- Mentoring project cost controllers in best practice cost control.
- Developing and implementing methodologies and cost reporting frameworks to review and evaluate the performance of the program.
- Establishment of program baseline cost plan including risk and contingency allocations.
- Monitoring, controlling, and reporting the program budget.
- Preparation of the monthly financial performance monitoring and reporting, variance analysis, advising management on financial risks and appropriate resolutions.
- Ensuring schedule and cost trend information is available to monitor and report program performance and initiate where necessary corrective or contingency action.
- Providing early notification to management of adverse cost and time impacts and trends
- Developing and implementing improvements to business systems and processes

**About you**

To be considered for this position you will ideally possess:

- Formal qualifications in Engineering, Construction or Commerce, or relevant professional experience within program and project cost control
- Proven experience in the establishment of program baseline cost plans including risk and contingency allocations
- Experience in monitoring, controlling, and reporting the program budget within major project or program (PMO) environments
- Ability to prepare and report on key program and project milestones.
- Ability to lead and mentor project cost controllers
- Ability to oversee contractor reports and highlight non-compliance.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to drive inputs from project and corporate stakeholders
