As a Cost Controller you will be responsible for the effective management of project budgets through cost analysis and the provision of financial insights to support decision-making.
- Collaborate with Project Planners, Project Managers and Project leadership to develop detailed project budgets, including estimates of labour, services, materials, equipment and overhead costs.
- Monitor budget execution through the project lifecycle, identifying deviations and risks, and taking appropriate actions to address them.
- Conduct regular cost analysis to compare expenses against budgeted amounts, identifying variances and their causes, providing insight into cost trends, potential overruns and opportunities for cost reductions where possible.
- Generate regular and ad hoc financial reports that highlight project budget status, expenditures, forecasts and variances, liaising with Project Analysts where needed.
- Liaise closely with project teams to forecast project costs based on data trends and anticipated changes and assist in preparing accurate financial projects for project completion.

**The community you will join**:
Reporting into the Senior Project Management Lead this role is crucial in ensuring that major projects are executed within approved budgets while identifying cost-saving opportunities and mitigating financial risks.

**Your expertise**:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quantity surveying, finance, accounting, business administration or a related field, coupled with relevant experience in financial analysis, cost control, or project finance; or
- A lesser qualification/s coupled with significant experience in financial analysis, cost control, or project finance, preferably within a utility or electricity transmission sector.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) are advantageous.

**We’d also need you to have**:

- 10+ years’ relevant experience within project controls on a mega +$1b infrastructure/energy/construction EPC projects.
- Experienced operator of a Cost Management tool essential.
- Proficiency in financial analysis tools and software, as well as Microsoft Excel for data modelling.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse project teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to effectively and flexibly operate in a complex, demanding environment with a high degree of sensitivity and responsibility.
- Demonstrated experience in Earned Value Management (Earned Value management, reporting and analysis of Cost and Schedule Performance Index (CPI and SPI).
- Ensure the optimisation of project management performance and control through supporting Management, Team Leaders and Project Managers with planning and scheduling, cash flow monitoring and forecasting, reporting and delivery process improvement
