Expressions of interest are now open for suitably qualified expert panellists to join the Design Review Panel (DRP).
Sutherland Shire Council is located about 26 kilometres south from the Sydney CBD, with a population of 230,900. The Shire has diverse environment including urban areas, national parks, scenic coasts, and extensive waterways. Sutherland Shire is an appealing place to live, work and explore, with population projections set to rise in the coming years. This growth has encouraged development for residential, commercial and recreation uses to respond to the changing needs of the community.
Skills and Experience
***Selection Criteria:
- Extensive experience in design development and in the NSW planning process, including demonstrated understanding of high-quality design
- Extensive experience and qualifications in one or more of the following areas: Urban Design, Architecture and Landscape Architecture.
- Experience in providing expert advice with regards to the architectural merit, landscape quality and sustainability outcomes.
- High level communication skills
- Ability to provide well-considered advice and recommendations based on the principles of State Environmental Planning Policy No 65 - Design Quality of Residential Apartment Development (SEPP 65) and any other relevant policies.
- Knowledge and understanding of the relevant legislative and regulatory requirements appropriate to Council.
In addition, Sutherland Shire Council is seeking nominations for the role of Chairperson. The Chair will have responsibility for the conduct of meetings in a manner that ensures efficient use of DRP meeting time, facilitation of open and fair exchange of views for all parties.

Salary
Members will be remunerated for attending panel meetings consistent with the remuneration for planning panels as approved by Council.
