The Priorities Unit sits within Operations and Governance Division. Its purpose is to undertake priority projects for Schools and Regional Services group focusing on projects or work activities that are time-limited, high-priority and require surge capacity.

To be successful in this role you will have a record of supporting and monitoring projects preferably within government. Your capacity to build relationships and networks within the department as well as with other agencies will be beneficial as will the ability to collaborate within a team to deliver outcomes.

Working under the direction of the Manager, Priorities Unit, the Policy Advisor will work on strategic policy projects, including developing and monitoring project plans, guiding projects through consultation, governance and approvals processes, preparation of briefs and other written materials.

This role will suit a proactive self-starter with a good understanding of government systems and processes and an ability to work with a flexible and adaptable approach.

**This is a fixed term role for 14 months.**
- Sound conceptual and analytical skills, with ability to undertake research and synthesise information from a range of sources and events
- Experience with scoping, developing and delivering policy projects
- Strong written communication skills
- Experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders on complex policy issues
- Policy skills including critically evaluating information, and identifying the potential implications and risks of proposed policy options
- Demonstrated ability to guide and monitor the delivery of policy projects through all stages of the policy cycle
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and with stakeholders
