**About the Opportunity**

**What you’ll be doing**
- Assist the head Chef with Catering Operations
- Maintain an exceptionally high standard of food production service and food hygiene
- Maintain the preparation and work area in a clean and hygienic condition at all times and ensure thorough cleaning of these areas, including equipment after each service
- Maintain stock levels, replenish and clean areas
- Manual handling tasks, including lifting, and transporting items, will be required in the kitchen
- Ensure compliance with Serco and DIBP/FDSP Codes of Conduct, policies and procedures

You have a positive attitude with a strong work ethic and good verbal and written communication skills. Your experience in following directions whilst working in a diverse fast paced environment allows you to be a good team player. You are confident in preparing and delivering food of high standard. Your dedication to nutritious food will enable you to provide well-presented food to detainees. You are a respectful and professional person who demonstrates exceptional moral values in everything you do.
- The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
- Minimum Certificate II in Kitchen Operations (SIT20312) or equivalent qualification
- Basic Food Hygiene / Food Safety Handling Certificate
- Demonstrated experience with basic kitchen processes and food preparation
- Ability to assist the Catering Manager and Chefs in preparation of the daily menu
- Ensure all tasks are performed in a timely manner and comply with internal policy and legislative requirements
- Understanding of OHS legislation and management of hazards
- This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes a Federal police check as an essential selection component for this role._
