Sydney, Australia Bendigo & Adelaide Bank Full time

About us

Our goal to be Australia’s Bank of choice drives us to set the example of how banking should be: progressive, sustainable, shared, and trusted.

Our Reward, Performance and Governance team sit within our impressive People and Culture function providing leadership and expertise that drives our reward strategy across the Group. Importantly ensuring our staff are fairly rewarded for the contribution they make to the success of the organisation, that the Bank complies with relevant regulatory, tax and compliance frameworks, and that the remuneration strategy complements the business strategy and people related frameworks and initiatives.

About the role

We have a rare opportunity for a Risk and Reward Lead to join the team in a permanent position. Reporting into the Head of Reward, Performance, and Governance you will design, implement, and manage the organisational approach to consequence management and the linking of risk and reward outcomes. This is a key role in embedding BEN’s approach to CPS511 and our broader uplift of Governance, Culture, Remuneration and Accountability.

Drawing on your technical knowledge and expertise to advise on the implementation of the consequence management policy, support governance arrangements, develop and manage reporting for management and Board committees, and provide input into drafting management and Board committee papers.

You’ll bring your experience from within operational risk, reward function, or compliance regulatory change working in or consulting to banks or financial services organisations. Here you have honed your skills in governance, risk management (line 1 or line 2), audit, or conduct risk. With experience designing and implementing frameworks, systems, and process that add practical value.

Ideally this role will be based in Adelaide, Bendigo, Melbourne, or Sydney. So whichever location you’re based in you’ll have team members around you for the days that you’re in the office, and then other days you’ll be working from home to help better balance your life and work.

We’re also open to considering part time 4 days per week or a 9-day fortnight arrangement - so talk to us about what flexibility looks like to you

**As the Risk and Reward Lead you’ll get to**:
Actively drive and execute a program of work that will design and implement a Consequence Management Policy across the organisation
Manage and periodically review consequence data to derive insights to support the identification of systemic risk and conduct issues and make recommendations
Develop consequence management reporting that collates risk and conduct events, the consequences applied, and deviations from policy
Provide consequence management reporting to relevant stakeholders, including Executive and Board Committees to demonstrate the effectiveness of the framework in meeting regulatory requirement
As required, interpret prudential standards and other regulatory frameworks, and translate into Bank policy and process
Partner with 1LOD risk and compliance teams, 2LOD and 3LOD to monitor and report on risk events and the consequences
Provide high quality advice and guidance to specialists and support them in advising leaders in consequence related matters, design and deliver related training, or supporting tools and materials

About you

**To be successful in the role, you'll have**:
A relevant tertiary degree in Law, Governance, Risk Management, Commerce, or related discipline
Demonstrated experience in risk management, governance, or legal from within the Banking and Finance sector, or consulting
Proven experience in designing and implementing frameworks, systems, and processes to add practical value
Capabilities managing the implementation of regulatory projects
A strong ability to think critically, problem solve, and implement practically
A proactive and independent approach, being able to execute and align programs of work
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Extensive relationship building to partner and influence with senior stakeholders across the organisation
