**About the role**

In this role you will provide strategic leadership in the development of customised, evidence-based programs, professional learning and instructional resources to build the capability of teachers and school leaders to drive improved and equitable academic progress and achievement for all students in NSW public schools. This includes leadership of key portfolios in Aboriginal Education including literacy and numeracy, explicit teaching, Highly Gifted Potential Education, curriculum support P-12 and senior pathways.

**About you**

You will play an important role in developing a culture that provides world-leading public education outcomes, enabling students to learn and thrive.

As a leader you will join an executive team focused on driving improved ways of working to deliver meaningful and long-lasting impact. You will be collaborative, courageous, agile, and disciplined about delivering outcomes for the students of NSW.

**To be successful in this role, you will have**
- Experience managing stakeholders and providing specialist advice and guidance
- Demonstrated understanding of setting up new processes and systems
- An effective communicator, balancing tactical execution with strategic vision
- Demonstrated extensive experience at a senior level in the management of a large complex organisation
- Aboriginal identified role: Aboriginality is an essential requirement and typically all or the majority of the work will involve the development and /or delivery of policy, programs and services which impact on Aboriginal people and/or involve liaising directly with Aboriginal people and communities
- Demonstrated capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department’s NSW Plan for Public Education, the Aboriginal Education Policy, the Connected Communities Strategy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications in education.
- Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check)
- Hold a valid NSW Driver’s license.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
