**About the role**:
The Heavy Equipment Operator at the Forrestfield Container Terminal is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient movement of freight, with a key role in assisting with pre-departure checks for containerised freight trains. This includes the installation and removal of twist locks, ensuring containers are secured, and assisting with the loading and unloading of double-stacked trains. The role involves close coordination with equipment operators, and experience with forklifts and Elevated Work Platforms (EWPs) is highly desirable.
- Safe Operation of forklifts, elevated work platform. Additionally Reach stacker is desirable.
- Assist with pre-departure inspections for containerised freight trains, including ensuring all containers are properly secured, twist locks are correctly installed, and safety protocols are followed.
- Assist in loading and unloading containers, including double-stacked trains, ensuring efficient and safe handling of cargo.
- Operate all vehicles and equipment in line with company policy and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, fatigue and heavy equipment operating guidelines.
- Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a high degree of professionalism.
- Perform general terminal duties as directed including completing basic data entry work in line with your role along with lower-level maintenance of equipment.
- Perform. plant and equipment inspection/prestart as per Aurizon policy.
- Utilise all available competencies and licences and be willing to obtain any necessary licences and tickets for safe and continued operation.

**About you**:
Any of the below Tickets/Licenses/Skills would be advantageous:

- Experience in a rail terminal, logistics, or freight environment is preferred.
- High Risk Fork Lift & EWP ticket.
- Knowledge of rules and regulations of terminals, workplace health and safety, and dangerous goods.
- Substantial skill in carrying out routine tasks associated with terminal operations.
- Experience in heavy operations environment will be highly regarded.
- Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office suite.
- Sound skill in the movement of containerised freight cargo.
- High level of interpersonal skills to grow effective internal/external relationships.
