About the Role
The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is seeking a reliable and safety-focused
Stores Operator
to join the Transperth Train Operations team on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Warehouse and Logistics Supervisor (Rollingstock), this role supports railcar maintenance by ensuring the timely and accurate supply of materials across multiple depots. It's ideal for candidates with warehousing, inventory, or distribution experience looking to contribute to essential public transport services.
In this role, you will:
- Receive, pick, pack, and despatch goods using the Inventory Management System (IMS), ensuring accurate stock handling.
- Maintain stock levels, monitor expiry dates, and manage correct storage across all depots.
- Prepare and deliver service kits and materials to support scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
- Operate and maintain forklifts and lifting equipment safely and in line with OH&S standards.
- Keep storerooms and distribution areas clean, organised, and compliant with safety protocols.
- Conduct stocktakes, cycle counts, and maintain records for both catalogued and non-catalogued items.
- Contribute to process improvements through lean practices and ongoing skill development.
About You
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Proven experience in warehouse or stock handling, including inventory management processes.
- Valid and current forklift licence with ability to safely move bulky/heavy items using lifting equipment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with confidence in handling figures.
- High attention to detail with demonstrated problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Proficiency in stock management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Possession of WA 'C' Class Drivers Licence or equivalent held throughout the duration of the employment.

There is one permanent full-time opportunity available for an immediate start. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies both fixed term and permanent that may arise within the next 12 months.
