Orthotist, Hunter Prosthetics and Orthotics Service
2 weeks ago
**Employment Type**: Full Time Permanent
**Position Classification**:Orthotist Level 5
**Remuneration**:$122,738 - $125,807 per annum plus 10.5% superannuation
**Hours Per Week**:40 hours per week
**Location**: Hunter Prosthetics and Orthotics Service
**The Opportunity**
The Level 5 Orthotist position encompasses a primarily clinical component with a partial clinical management element. The clinical component involves direct delivery of care to orthotic patients as well as the manufacturing of orthoses. The management component incorporates support of clinical and technical staff in the provision of prosthetic/orthotic services to patients as well as some operational service needs.
Hunter Prosthetics Orthotics Service (HPOS) is located on the John Hunter Hospital Campus, which is the tertiary referral centre for the Hunter and Northern NSW regions, and provides care to a range of Orthotic patients of all ages. Specialising in rehabilitation, the service works in collaboration with internal/external referrers and multi-disciplinary allied health teams including high-risk foot clinics, tone and function clinics, operating theatres as well as physiotherapy and orthopaedic services. The HPOS team, consisting of 11 clinical, 3 technical and 2 admin support positions, cares deeply about the positive patient care-experience. The team is passionate about assisting our clients, and their families, to achieve desired life goals and get them ‘moving through life’.
HPOS is an on-site manufacturing department enabling the fabrication of custom foot orthoses, custom thermoplastic and carbon fibre orthoses, as well as traditional KAFOs. HPOS also has on-site 3D scanning capability and access to local 3D printing services.
HPOS is a registered NDIS provider and cares for patients funded through EnableNSW, HNELHD and other private and not-for-profit entities.
The Newcastle region is the second-most-populated region in NSW and Australia’s second oldest city. Well known for our beaches, harbour and vineyards within an hour’s drive, having a population of around half a million means our city is more slowly paced than the capital cities but still has a diverse range of culture, secret hipster-friendly nightspots and a fantastic range of restaurants.
