**About us**:
Striive Care is a trusted organisation dedicated to supporting children and young people with diverse needs. We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced support worker to assist a young, non-verbal individual in achieving their daily goals and fostering independence.

**Gender-Specific Requirement**
- Due to the personal care needs of the individual, this position requires a **female support worker**, as permitted under Section 30 of the **Discrimination Act 1991 (ACT)**.

**About the Role**
In this role, you will:

- Provide individualised support to a non-verbal young person, including assistance with communication methods, personal care, and daily activities.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.
- Collaborate with family members and the broader care team to ensure consistent support tailored to the individual’s needs.
- Utilise tools and techniques such as alternative communication systems (e.g., PECS or AAC) to enhance engagement.

**Essential Requirements**
- Experience working with non-verbal children or youth.
- Knowledge or experience in using communication tools like PECS or AAC (or willingness to learn).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively connect with the individual and their family.
- Valid Working with Children Check, NDIS Worker Screening Check, and First Aid/CPR certification.
- Current driver’s license

**Desirable**
- Understanding of sensory needs and strategies to manage them.

Pay: $31.76 - $33.96 per hour

- Australia (preferred)
