**About the opportunity**
The People and Wellbeing Business Partner operates across the client groups of Colleges, Institutes and Divisions and is responsible for understanding their stakeholders and driving solutions that blend institutional realities with people orientation. Operating as a trusted advisor to the University’s people managers, the Business Partner will work to shape a people centered culture and deliver a breadth of people initiatives with both transformational and operational impact.
Bringing expertise, enthusiasm and a people centered approach, the position requires a supportive and collaborative style to work closely with the broader People and Wellbeing team. The role will promote and demonstrate the University of Tasmania Values.
**What you’ll do**:
- Contribute to a productive partnership between People and Wellbeing and the relevant client group.
- Provide support in the development and enablement of workforce strategies, organisational design and people plans.
- Provide support in the identification, development, implementation and embedding of People related programs and initiatives that support the University’s strategic direction, particularly the strategic direction of the relevant client group and the University People Strategy.
- Coach People Managers to ensure management practices and processes support staff and drive a culture of engagement, accountability, excellence, and high performance.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to People and Wellbeing and People Shared Services colleagues to support their growth and development.
- Provide HR support on a range of strategic and operational initiatives including, change programs, development programs, and culture and engagement initiatives.
- Provide timely and professional HR advice, guidance and solutions to people managers.
- Advocate for the employee experience and protect the University from risk through robust case management and industrial relations advice.
**What we’re looking for**:
- Demonstrated professional HR experience in large and/or complex organisations, or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience.
- An understanding of, and the ability to translate, the relevant University employment frameworks, policies, procedures, systems and processes with the ability to identify the root cause and create the best outcome.
- Ability to coach people managers for career development, expectation setting and resetting, performance improvement and exit if appropriate.
- Ability to discover root cause issues to team and individual performance. This includes the ability to discover, diagnose with emotional intelligence.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively liaise with and influence all levels of stakeholders, including the ability to resolve conflict.
- Ability to see through the eyes of a people manager and understand their strategic priorities at a high level to ensure appropriate advice and counsel is provided.
- Good working knowledge of industrial relationship landscape.
- Proven ability to manage and resolve employee relations cases effectively.
**Salary details**
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $126,637 comprising base salary within the range of $98,473 to $108,237 plus 17% superannuation.
