**About the role**
National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Native Title Agreements **Project Officer** to work to support the implementation of Indigenous Land Use Agreements and conservation of Aboriginal cultural heritage and our natural environment in partnership with Native Title holders and Aboriginal communities.
The Grafton based position will work within a team on the implementation and project management of NPWS obligations under Indigenous Land Use Agreements (established under the Commonwealth _Native Title Act 1993_). This role provides diverse project management and related support services including working with native title holders to jointly manage national parks, preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation, implementing and monitoring project plans.
**_ This is a targeted role under GSE Rule 26 and Aboriginal people are encouraged to apply._**
As the Native Title Agreements Project Officer, you will provide diverse project management and related support services in partnership with other departmental staff, native title holders and external stakeholders to jointly manage NPWS reserves. You will be required to liaise with native title holders and key internal and external stakeholders, develop and monitor project and risk management plans, monitor compliance with Indigenous Land Use Agreements and progress against annual implementation plans, monitor budget expenditure, and prepare reports and internal briefs.
**About You**
You have a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and the ability to communicate sensitively and work effectively with Aboriginal peoples. You are highly organised and motivated, and able to work under limited supervision to manage competing priorities and achieve results.
You are able to solve complex problems, work towards achieving stakeholder agreement and provide culturally appropriate recommendations whilst balancing Aboriginal culture, customary practices and environmental legal requirements into decision making.
**Essential Requirements**
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent relevant working experience in project management.
- Experience in working collaboratively and development and delivery of projects, including the development of project plans, monitoring of project timelines, budgets and reporting requirements, and contract administration.
