About the Role

As we progress our decarbonisation strategy and move towards a renewable energy future, AGL is transitioning our thermal generation sites into low emission industrial energy hubs which will deliver low carbon solutions across a range of industries, not just energy. The Energy Hubs will leverage existing land, infrastructure and renewable energy and storage supply, to support the development of new and existing industries on the sites, in partnership with Industry and Governments.

As the Advisor, Health and Safety for Energy Hubs you will ensure potential health and safety hazards are identified, evaluated and controlled by effectively communicating, implementing and managing programs aimed at achieving desired business and regulatory outcomes. You will support the implementation of Health and Safety strategic programs, manage risk and compliance, ensuring outcomes are achieved and embedded, as well as coaching, mentoring and supporting our people to achieve a positive HSE culture.

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Senior Manager, HSE, you will be responsible for:

- Actively participating as a member of the group wide HSE team to develop, implement, measure and communicate AGL HSE Strategy initiatives and targets that foster continual improvement in HSE performance
- Partner with business unit teams, sharing learnings, offering solutions and providing assurance/compliance with health and safety requirements
- Support the development and delivery of HSE Strategy for improving HSE Contractor Management across AGL
- Support the business with the delivery of HSE contractor forums for critical contracting engagements
- Provide health and safety technical input for Energy Hub projects including, identification and management of health and safety compliance obligations, review of technical studies, input into risk assessments and input into concept design development
- Contribute to the development of health and safety requirements and key performance indicators in contracts/agreements for projects and Operations/Maintenance agreements

About You

You will ideally have a background in Health and Safety Advisory roles in Heavy Industrial, Construction and High-Risk Industries. Your communication, interpersonal and influencing with internal and external stakeholders, along with your advanced analytical, risk management and project management skills will set you up for success.

What you’ll bring to the table
- A minimum qualification of a Diploma in Health, Safety and Environment or similar
- Proven stakeholder engagement skill
- Advanced contractor management and assurance experience
- Incident investigation and management experience
- A commitment to best practice Health and Safety systems and processes
- Experience engaging with regulators
- A proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks
