**The Role**
The Work Health, Safety, and Environment (WHSE) Advisor leads the internal WHSE governance program ensuring compliance with relevant Legislation, policies and procedures. This includes:

- Developing and implementing internal WHSE policies and procedures.
- Working collaboratively with contractors to ensure they meet their WHSE obligations.
- Overseeing WHSE Incident response, hazard identification, and risk management.
- Development and delivery of WHSE reports, presentations, and training programs.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders on complex sensitive WHSE issues.
- Resolve problems using professional expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action and implications for WHSE activities.
- Providing support to the Security and Facilities Manager.

The WHS Advisor is integral to fostering a positive and just safety culture. They are the point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on all WHSE matters impacting the Systems Program Office.

**About our Team**
Surveillance and Response Systems Program Office (SRSPO) ensures the availability and performance of highly complex surveillance and response airborne and related systems for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) - including the P-8A Poseidon aircraft systems. SRSPO also acquires and supports common Aeronautical Life Support Equipment (ALSE) used on air vehicles operated by the RAAF, Navy and Army. We also support the MQ-4C Triton, a new remotely piloted high altitude long endurance aircraft system.

At SRSPO we are passionate about working collaboratively with our stakeholders and industry partners to ensure the necessary acquisition, sustainment and regulatory requirements are fulfilled. We do this to support the warfighter and achieve the Department of Defence’s strategic and operational objectives.

Along with SRSPO’s Executive, the WHSEA is a promoter of a positive WHSE culture therefore you must be able to engage and proactively communicate with influence to stakeholders of all levels.

The Defence environment has unique WHSE challenges therefore you will need to be proficient at researching and analysing complex information, the environment, and situations/incidents, to identify process inadequacies and conduct risk management accordingly. Key to this is to have an in-depth understanding of WHS Legislation (I.e. WHS Act 2011) and policy frameworks to ensure compliance of local governance systems, procedures and controls.
