**The opportunity**
The Area Manger North leads the delivery of AMP Bank products to our Aggregators and Brokers across QLD, NSW and ACT through the development and managements of key aggregator relationships. The purpose of this role is to lead a team of field and Desk based BDMs to generate 2x system lending growth through accredited mortgage brokers and AMP Aligned Financial Advisers.
The Area Manager North, is responsible for;
- Relationship management with key stakeholders internally and externally including with Aggregator state managers, Broker key customers, Bank Technology & Operations, Risk and Credit.
- Promoting and driving a clear sense of purpose and direction for the positioning and performance of the brokers
- Interpret market and internal data and develop targeted activity and initiatives that deliver on AMP bank objectives across the area.
- Creating a sense of one team ownership and drive a culture of accountability and delivery across the home lending tribe and broader Bank.
- Leading by example, developing and coaching the BDM team members to improve engagement, utilisation and effectiveness and achieve high performance across the team.
**How you will make an impact**
- Taking ownership and accountability for the success of the Territory’s business targets through the development of sales & marketing plans, maintenance of allocated budgets, portfolio allocation & the management of a team of BDM’s.
- Develop and implement new strategies to increase home lending flow and growth opportunities in the mortgage broker market.
- Actively seek and evaluate feedback from brokers regarding key initiatives. As required, determine and implement appropriate course of action to enhance effectiveness.
- Keep abreast of market trends, developments, competitor activity and consumer needs. Provide feedback to management as appropriate.
- Identify and capitalise on opportunities for business growth within the territory, adapting ideas to align with Bank’s culture and strategic intent.
- Identify, initiate and implement new and innovative strategies to increase sales opportunities for business partners
- Facilitate succession planning and to ensure team members maximise their potential through the development and implementation of individualised development plans.
- Recruitment and selection of new staff when needed including providing them with a thorough induction to ensure sufficient information and knowledge is provided to succeed.
- Strong relationships established and effectively managed with key internal and external providers enabling BDM’s to meet targets.
- Coaching and development of your team to deliver best in class support to our Brokers, support this across the Home lending tribe
- Actively support in field work i.e. guiding and mentoring the BDM’s and Brokers (training, answering queries), attendance at aggregator conferences and PD days etc.
- Ensure the agreed operating objectives are achieved across a balanced scorecard
- Participation in project work (where required) and work cross functionally to help deliver business wide initiatives
- Continually review sales processes; making recommendations and taking action for change as required to improve the way the business meets efficiencies and sales targets.
- Ensure a professional standards and risk management culture is embedded within the team.
- To assist in removing roadblocks and impediments in achieving all sales and service goals.
- Generate, communicate and implement new business ideas in the field.
**What you will bring to the role**
- Demonstrated previous leadership experience in leading a team to achieve excellent results & best practice in a rapidly changing market.
- 5-10 years in financial services - with a strong background in managing key intermediaries in the home lending market. Additional experience in customer service, Banking, Product or Financial Services Licensee or other experience in financial services considered is also advantageous.
- Experience working in a fast-paced sales, multi site/state environment within financial services preferred
- Strong Home lending and credit background
- Proven high level communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders
- A well developed and extensive network within the 3rd Party market -with lenders, aggregators and brokers
