First Step Support Services is looking to expand, and we are looking to bring on board a very particular person to join our team. Compassion, reliability, and emotional intelligence are just as important to us as qualifications or past experience.

Initially, this role will be virtual, supporting a participant preparing for a move to the area. Once relocation occurs, in-person support will be required, so availability for both is essential.

You will be provided with a thorough training & onboarding by an existing Support Worker, and taking on part of her role which includes

**Virtual Responsibilities**:

- Liaising with providers
- Managing calendars & appointments
- Creating and managing documents
- Supporting staff training

Eventually then taking on the position of Head of support, so managing other Team members as well as assisting the client.

**We’re Looking For Someone Who**:

- Is comfortable working around cats
- Brings maturity, patience, and emotional awareness (no age requirement)
- Has experience or understanding of neurodiversity - desirable, but not essential
- Is physically capable - some tasks may include lifting, bending, and stretching
- Maintains strong professional boundaries
- Has flexible expectations and a proactive approach
- Certificate IV (or higher) in a relevant field
- Current WWCC & NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
- Full unrestricted drivers license

**Bonus Points For**:

- Experience or familiarity with eating disorders (EDs) - this is preferred but not essential
- Prior experience in support, disability, mental health, or similar fields
- Has lived experience in or around the service industries (e.g. Police, Ambulance, Fire, SES, Defence, Rescue) - either firsthand or through a close family member

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $43.08 per hour

Schedule:

- Afternoon shift
- Day shift
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

Supplementary Pay:

- Penalty rates

Work Location: In person
