Perth, Australia Lynas Corporation Full time

Our Rare Earths deposit in Mt Weld, Western Australia, is acknowledged as one of the highest-grade Rare Earths mines in the world and we operate the world’s largest single Rare Earths processing plant in Malaysia - so you are joining a unique team As a team member you will be contributing to the sustainable supply of rare earths metals which are used in oil & gas, electric vehicles, and wind turbines.

Lynas is embarking on a $500m expansion in Western Australia to expand the capacity at the Mt Weld mine and concentration plant to meet accelerating market demand for rare earth minerals. This provides an opportunity for an experienced Commissioning Manager to drive the successful commissioning of the concentration plant in stages through the next year and a quarter. In this key appointment towards ensuring project success, you will be ensuring that the plant is successively commissioned from handover from construction at notice of energisation, through functional testing, system/no load testing, process/load commissioning including the introduction of fluids/ore, and performance testing and ramp up with operations at the helm.

The challenges ahead on this new 1.3mtpa plant, with 8% REE ore include commissioning of the ROM, crushing, materials handling, stockpiling/reclaim, grinding, floatation, regrind to 8 micron, thickening, filtration, concentrate loadout into containers, significant reagent facilities, neutralisation, desalination, 90% water reclaim and recycling, tailings, HV, MV & LV electrical, controls whilst interfacing with an existing operational plant ensuring controls are implemented towards controlling 0.7pH slurries, H2SO4 and HF gas scrubbing when the Apatite ores are introduced. The project is delivered progressively in stages, hence construction, commissioning and operations will at times be concurrent.

You will be supported by a strong Lynas led Integrated Management Team, an eager engineering service provider, an already implemented Omega 365 completions system, and Tier 1 and 2 contractors already well progressed in the construction phases (but much still to be completed).

This is a fixed term 12 Month contract, fly in/fly out (FIFO) position from Perth to Mt Weld (Laverton) on a 14/7 roster, and/or 8/6 roster.
