**What you'll be doing**

The position of Simulation Advanced Trainee offers training in medical simulation and education. The Simulation Advanced Trainee (AT) position is accredited by ACEM as a Specialist Training Placement (STP). It would suit ACEM trainees in Training Stages 2-4. The position is a 1 year position split equally between simulation training / medical education AT and Emergency AT at Wollongong hospital.

The Simulation AT will learn how to design, facilitate, deliver and debrief simulation training for medical staff, allied health staff and medical students in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District. Whilst working as an Emergency AT, the AT will participate in a seven-day per week roster which includes evening and night shifts and will demonstrate proficiency in the assessment and management of all medical and surgical emergencies in paediatric and adult patients.

**Selection Criteria**
- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Minimum 3 years full time equivalent post graduate years and significant emergency experience
- Has qualified as an Advanced Trainee as per the requirements by ACEM or expects to have met the criteria by commencement of employment
- Demonstrated commitment to and satisfactory progress in the ACEM training program
- Demonstrated effective communication skills, clinical skills, judgement and expertise, teamwork, time management and problem solving skills in the clinical setting
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
- Evidence of continued professional development and commitment to self-education, experience and willingness to teach junior medical staff
- Ability and willingness to work at the facilities within the Network to deliver patient care
