**About John Holland**:
At John Holland, our purpose is simple - we transform lives with everything we do.
We’ve always known that infrastructure is about people — our customers, our employees, and the communities in which we work every day.
That’s our difference. Deep experience and capability with a genuine care about creating better lives for people along the way.
Be part of the team that’s up for the challenge of transforming lives for good.
**About the Role / Are you up for the challenge?**:
As a survey manager working on the Inland Rail Beveridge to Albury Tranche 2 Project you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of surveying activities within the project. The role includes planning and coordinating survey operations, collecting and analysing survey data, and ensuring that accurate measurements and calculations are obtained. These activities will span across different phases of the project such as design, delivery and completions.
You will also be responsible for managing a team of surveyors (across eight different sites from Wandong to Benalla), assigning tasks, and providing guidance and support. A critical part of the role will be the ability to work closely with other project stakeholders, such as engineers and design consultants, to ensure that surveying requirements are met and that the project progresses smoothly.
The role is primarily based out of our main office in Docklands. However, it also will involve travel to various construction sites to oversee the survey team and ensure that project deliverables are achieved in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
**Project Description**:
Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,700km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network - better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities.
The Beveridge to Albury (B2A) project is the Victorian portion of the program undertaken along approximately 305 kms of existing northest rail corridor between Beveridge and Albury. B2A is staged in two tranches. Tranche 1 includes enhancement works across four sites and corridor wide works.
Tranche 2 works will be delivered by John Holland and includes adjustment of track alignments, the provision of new road overbridges and station modifications to enable the safe operation of double-stack freight trains across eight B2A project sites between Wandong and Benalla.
**Responsibilities of the role include / What you will do;**:
Overall responsibility for the surveying function on this high-profile major project include:
- Verification of survey control data sitewide
- Management, storage and archiving of project survey data
- Production of quality reports, drawings and sketches to project specifications
- Responsibility for cadastral needs of the project (POSI, Boundary, etc.)
- Planning requirements for construction and possession works
- Monthly cost monitoring and budgeting
- Management 10+ field staff across multiple sites
**To be successful in this key role, you must have / What we are looking for;**:
- Demonstrated experience in engineering surveying and management
- Hold a recognised qualification in surveying from a recognised institution (minimum diploma)
- Worked on large-scale, tier 1 projects in surveying management
- Experience in financial reporting and budgeting
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated leadership credentials and a ‘can do’ attitude
