**About the Role**:
Reporting to the General Manager People & Culture, you will lead the Employee Relations (ER) and Work Health and Safety (WHS) functions ensuring proactive strategies are in place to support the effective management of all ER matters and continuously improve the WHS management system including processes, policies, systems, reporting and communication. The role is also responsible for end to end oversight and strategic advice on ER and WHS matters to the Board and Senior Management Team.

You will provide active oversight and leadership to the team, drive employee performance and development with a focus on engagement and wellbeing.

**Other key aspects of the role**:

- Develop, implement and maintain proactive ER and WHS strategies in line with business objectives and legislative requirements.
- Managing and fostering proactive and collaborative relationships with key external parties and industry bodies, including Finance Sector Union
- Leading WHS reporting and oversight and communicating results to Board, Senior Management team and other committees as required
- Leading ER and WHS education and awareness programs and the development of enhanced employer value proposition and support building manager capability
- Working with team to anticipate trends and ensure adoption of a collaborative risk-based approach as required
- Overseeing workers compensation accessibility, and return at/to work programs
- Risk and compliance related obligations, developing and monitoring of relevant policies and procedures and implementing a proactive and risk-aware management culture
- Leading and coaching team members to continuously develop capability, build high performing, collaborative and engaged teams

**Important to your success**:

- Tertiary qualifications in Law with current legal practising certificate.
- Significant experience in developing and implementing ER/IR and WHS strategies in a leadership role for a complex, matrix corporate organisation
- Expert understanding and knowledge of HR organisational policies and practices with contemporary employment and WHS legislation and ‘Employer of Choice’ Practices
- Comprehensive knowledge of workers compensation, return to work and rehabilitation management
- Highly developed senior stakeholder management skills, which enable cross functional thinking in the development and implementation of employee relationship solutions and foster collaboration across the organisation
- Highly developed consulting, negotiation and facilitation skills with demonstrated coaching, influencing and promoting behavioural change in an organisation
- Demonstrated ability to use data to create meaningful insights
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, capable of communicating with audiences at all levels with clarity, impact and influence, positively influencing risk behaviours throughout the organisation.
