**THE ROLE**
This role reports to the HR Director and has access to the Legal counsel. The Employee Relations Manager will take the lead in the provision of advice and ownership of employee relations services. This position is critical in mitigating risk and supporting compliance across the spectrum of related topics relevant to employment.
Working with stakeholders (ie people leaders, HR team members, external legal and Senior Leaders including EXCO) the Employee Relations Manager will provide support and recommend solutions in managing employee relations matters which deliver both appropriate people and business outcomes that align to our the strategy.
Focus areas for this role may include but are not limited to:
- general ER advice
- understanding impact of legislation or regulatory changes on employment instruments, policy and process
- ensure frameworks are in place and utilised to support a consistent approach and process for disciplinary and performance management issues
- ensure appropriate and ongoing education and training is in place to increase understanding and
- effectiveness of the management of straightforward ER matters by people leaders
- support coaching of people leaders to increase understanding and awareness to effectively execute
- more complex ER matters
- leading investigations
- grievance management
- whistleblower process (in respect of the employment relationship)
The Employee Relations Manager will remain up to date with changes in the external employment regulation environment, take the lead to advise stakeholders of potential compliance or legal risks for the business, and
support internal change (as appropriate).
Solutions may be in the form of introducing or updating
frameworks (and educating the business), seeking external expert input/resources or leading an internal workgroup. In this role the Employee Relations Manager will be responsible for effectively engaging and
briefing external employment law providers (under supervision from the Head of Legal) to optimise this relationship.
**THE CRITERIA**
The Client is looking for a seasoned ER Manager ideally from a Mid-Large sized corporate.
Extensive experience in providing expert technical and specialised ER/IR advice, including drafting relevant documentation.
Proven experience in effectively educating people leaders and HR professionals to build ER knowledge and capability that aligns with the organisation’s employment risk appetite.
Ability to successfully navigate challenging situations to bring participants to an outcome, particularly as the senior executive level.
