**The Role**
The newly formed Strategy, Planning and Independent Assurance Division (SPIA) within the Capability Acquisition Sustainment Group (CASG) are seeking EL2 Capability Analysts to join our team within Canberra and Melbourne. We have a number of opportunities that involve high tempo work, strategic thinking, and working across the Defence organisation to influence and support decision making in capability acquisition and sustainment. These roles will all involve leading teams, working collaboratively with a variety of CASG, Defence and Industry stakeholders and will directly support senior leader decision making. You will gain a breadth of experience across CASG and Defence and be provided the opportunity to expand and test your knowledge whilst dealing with complex issues that attract the attention of senior leaders.
An EL2 Capability Analyst will exercise a significant degree of independence and perform an important leadership role. They will be responsible for influencing and developing strategies, policies, priorities and operational practices in support of Defence objectives based on high level decision making and judgement. They will provide strategic advice to senior management and stakeholders as well as leading and assuming accountability for very complex work, sensitive projects or work programs that have strategic, political or operational significance. You will be responsible for leading a Directorate in a new Division, and as such you will be required to exercise your people management skills and knowledge to lead a high performing and cohesive team. We intend to create a merit pool which will be leveraged throughout the year to fill vacancies across the Division.
**About our Team**
Strategy, Planning and Independent Assurance Division plays a key leadership and advisory role in the planning and synchronisation of CASG’s work in recognition of the increasing complexity and highly integrated nature of the capability acquisition program, and the interdependencies across project and sustainment activities. The Division is responsible for CASG's engagement with the Defence Centre, the Services and other Groups on setting capability program delivery up for success, through collaboration in the early stages of capability planning and the progression of projects to Government approval. It is also responsible for CASG capacity planning and demand management, CASG's strategy and planning for its service delivery, independent decision-support and assurance functions, along with consolidated performance assessment and reporting.
Strong strategic thinking, communication, planning and relationship building skills are essential to roles at this Level. You will be comfortable using data to inform decision making.
