**The Role**
We are seeking a motivated and skilled individual for the role of EL 1 Policy and Communications Manager. The Policy and Communications Manager will lead an agile team to develop, consult and distribute strategic communications and policy product on the uplift of the maritime industrial base in Australia.

This role requires an individual who likes working on high-profile projects, in a dynamic environment. In this role, you will lead activities including strategy development and implementation, strategic issues briefing, and prominent public policy development. The key responsibilities of the role are:

- Support alignment of ongoing departmental policy activities to the 2024 Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Plan, including linkages to the Defence Industry Development Strategy, National Defence Strategy, Integrated Investment Program.
- Support the implementation of 2024 Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Plan, including advice to Government on continuous naval shipbuilding and sustainment project performance.
- Lead the development and implementation of a Communications Strategy that focusses on improving stakeholder understanding of the 2024 Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Plan and the broader industrial uplift required to deliver and sustain maritime capability.
- Support the development of the 2026 Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Plan, including stakeholder engagement, consultation, drafting, editing and quality assurance.
- Develop materials to support briefings, senate estimates, media enquiries, presentations and other stakeholder engagement activities.

**About our Team**
Continuous Naval Shipbuilding & Sustainment (CNSS) supports the development of the sovereign maritime industrial base that manufactures, sustains and upgrades naval capability in Australia. The CNSS Branch coordinates the development of the CNSS Key Enablers (industry, workforce, infrastructure, security and innovation) and administratively supports the Department Secretary for Naval Shipbuilding Sustainment Group in their role as the Capability Manager for maritime industrial uplift.
- Provide expert advice on policy, complex problem solving and issues management for internal and external stakeholders.
- Effectively manage competing priorities and strategic directions when achieving team planning and project outcomes in line with team goals and objectives.
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation.
- Prepare and review draft policy reports, briefing papers, speeches and discussion papers for presentation to senior staff and the Senior Executive.
