When new rail lines or bus services are proposed, detailed transport models are created to compare concepts against alternative options, inform optimal route and timetable design, to forecast how many people might utilise proposed services and to help quantify the benefits of projects to the community. It will be your role as a Transport Modeller within the Transport Analysis Unit (TAU) to help build and utilise these models for a variety of public transport projects.
As a Modeller, you will assist in developing, maintaining and utilising detailed and accurate transport models and tools, with a particular focus on the public transport network. These models and tools will be used for various types of transport studies to predict future conditions and assess the viability of proposed projects.
**Accountabilities include**:
- Assist in the development and maintenance of models and analytic tools, focused on public transport & land use accessibility.
- Assist in generating model results and preparing analyses, to inform transport planning projects.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to translate stakeholder needs into measurable outputs.
- Assist in preparing presentations, reports, correspondence and briefings on transport problems, trends and opportunities to support transport planning activities.
- Actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance improvement.
This position reports to the Principal Modeller (Transit & Accessibility Modelling).
