About the Nutrition and Dietetics Department

Our department has around 40 staff members across three sites - Austin (acute care), Repat (sub-acute care) and Talbot (rehabilitation), providing services to inpatients, outpatients and home & community programs. We operate as one department and come together for staff meetings and staff education. Our work environment is vibrant, fast paced, friendly, fun and supportive. Our clinical teams and department portfolios are led by highly experienced and skilled dietitians. Our clinical teams are ICU/surgical/gastro, oncology, paediatrics & mental health, sub-acute care and ambulatory care. We have portfolios for staff education, student training, quality and safety, research, nutrition support, food service, outpatient services and operations.

**Details of position**

This position is based?primarily on the Austin?site and will work as part of our?Paediatrics and Mental?Health?stream. ?The workload?will include child?&?adolescent eating disorders and adult general mental health. Workload allocation will be across both inpatient and ambulatory settings and may vary according to operational needs across the stream and the department. You will need to work Thursday afternoons and Friday mornings as that’s when the clinics run; the other four hours is flexible but would ideally be done on one of these days. There may be opportunity to work extra hours when we need leave cover, and opportunity to work beyond current contract end date.

About you:
Ideally, you’ll have:

- Sound clinical nutrition knowledge in various areas with demonstrated depth of knowledge in managing patients with eating disorders and general mental health conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated high-level communication skills.
- Effective counselling skills and commitment to patient-centred care.
- Demonstrated understanding of hospital food service systems and how to work effectively with food service staff. Demonstrated organisational skills, efficient workload management and ability to prioritise.Our benefits:
