**What You Will Be Doing**

The Family Violence Intake and Assessment Practitioner is a valued member of the Family Violence Program at Peninsula Health. The role works within the state-funded Safety and Support Hubs, formally known as The Orange Door (TOD). The Family Violence Practitioner responds to the identified needs of women and children in our community by responding to referrals for children, victim survivors and people who use violence (PUVs). This position will be based within the Peninsula Health Team across either the Northern, Westernport and Frankston Orange Door sites (applicants will be based at one site). Peninsula Health holds the specialist portfolio for people who use violence. The Multi-Agency Risk Assessment and Management (MARAM) Practice Guides and assessment tools for professionals working with adults who use family violence are utilised to undertake this practice.

Together with your Integrated Team, the role of the Peninsula Health Orange Door Family Violence Intake and Assessment Practitioner is to provide comprehensive risk management and safety planning to clients who access the Orange Door. This is achieved through the delivery of screening and triage, assessment, crisis response and service planning. Targeted interventions, allocation and coordinated referrals consistent with the Integrated Practice Framework, Operational Guidelines, Service Specifications and relevant risk assessment tools and frameworks. The position reports operationally to the Orange Door Team Leader, and professionally to the relevant Head of Discipline.

The Orange Door

The Orange Door brings together different workforces and practices to create an integrated team and a consolidated intake point in each Hub area to provide support for;
- Women, children and young people and families experiencing family violence
- People who use violence
- Families in need of support with the care, development, and well-being of children

This is achieved by drawing on expertise of Public Health and Community Based Organisations (including Peninsula Health) to receive and respond to referrals from:

- Police referrals for women and children who are victims of family violence
- Police referrals for perpetrators of family violence
- Child wellbeing referrals
- Third party organisations
- Clients who can self-refer by contacting The Orange Door directly

The Orange Door have mobilised the service system to work with women, children and families to support their safety and wellbeing. One of the roles of the Hubs is to provide a central point of intake, where referrals are triaged by a team of professional staff representing the Family Violence sector. The Hubs work directly with PUVs onsite, via phone and out-posting at partner organisations. A key function of this role is to assess the risk posed by PUVs and determine the appropriate service provision, with a focus on referrals to family violence prevention programs (Men’s Behaviour Change Program) and other referrals as identified to address psychosocial needs.
