Celebrating 40 years as the provider of quality professional legal assistance, Community Justice Services SA Ltd (CJSSA) is the largest Community legal service provider in South Australia. Beginning in 1983 as a small local service in Noarlunga, the organisation has seen continued expansion of services and today operates from Adelaide southern metropolitan, Murray Mallee, Fleurieu Peninsula, Limestone Coast and the Riverland. Funded by the Commonwealth and State Attorney-Generals’ Departments, CJSSA provides free legal advice in the areas of criminal, family, employment and civil law and free court representation in both the State and Federal Courts. Additional services include the Bushfire Legal Community Program, River Murray Floods Legal Assistance, Community Legal Education, Law Reform and other community engagements.

CJSSA aims to make access to justice available to all those in the community who would otherwise be denied access due to social or economic disadvantages which restrict their ability to exercise their legal rights. CJSSA works towards creating a community that respects and upholds fairness, justice and human rights.

A new cycle of Board renewal creates the opportunity for the appointment of a number of Board members who will ensure the vision for the organisation and the ongoing service excellence are delivered within a framework of contemporary governance and leadership, sound financial oversight and robust strategic planning. Opportunities exist to contribute expertise in one or more of the following areas:

- financial management;
- governance and compliance;
- commercial/corporate management;
- risk management;
- government relations.

Expressions of interest are invited from appropriately qualified senior executives and non-executive directors able to bring a balance of community and corporate focus to this vital community-facing, values-based environment. A genuine affinity with the purpose, vision and values of this worthy and respected organisation will be important.
