Sydney, Australia Children's Cancer Institute Full time

We’ve come a long way from our humble beginnings 40+ years ago. However, for 4 decades, our vision has been the same — to save the lives of all children with cancer and improve their long-term health through research. It’s not if. It’s when.

To accomplish our vision, we’re seeking someone who lives our values: owning and delivering meaningful work, collaborating to drive impact, challenging the status quo to create a better future, and balancing logic with empathy. Let’s achieve more, together.

As a Research Officer in our Translational Cancer Nanomedicine team you will work in an interdisciplinary research program. A key area of focus will be on developing and characterising patient-derived tumour models, with an emphasis on 3D bioprinting and personalised medicine in paediatric cancer.

Key responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments, coordinating project timelines, writing ethics and regulatory submissions, and assisting with publications, grants, and reports. The role also involves working with team members, supervising junior researchers and collaborating across internal and external teams.

The position is expected to deliver high-quality research outcomes, contribute to publications and presentations, and support the program’s translational research goals.

**To succeed you will have**
- A PhD in a relevant scientific or medical field
- Advanced molecular and cell biology, data and imaging analysis
- Advanced experience in preclinical research in the fields of cancer biology, organoid models and personalised medicine
- Advanced live-cell imaging and imaging analysis skills
- Advanced writing skills
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and document experiments
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

**We will support you to be your best with benefits that include but are not limited to**:

- Focus on employee wellbeing, including up to 5 gifted wellbeing days off (paid) per year
- Access to Fitness Passport, with access to an extensive choice of fitness facilities across Sydney at discounted rates
- Corporate discounts and discounts on education through UNSW
