**About the company**:
A government agency is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual with strong writing and research skills to join their Historian team.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare historical material including speeches, essays, talking points and briefings for significant commemorative events in Australia
- Fact check Departmental media and other Departmental historical material.
- Respond to management and Ministerial enquiries relevant to the Department's historical work.
- Contribute to print and web-based historical publications.
- Undertake a range of administrative tasks to assist the current team. This includes paying invoices, formatting correspondence using the Department's system, controlling stock of publications and mailing books to veterans and other stakeholders along with contracting and procurement for history projects.

**Qualifications and Experience**:

- Minimum 1st or 2nd Class Honours degree in History.
- Pursuing or have an intention to pursue post-graduate study in History.
- Exceptional writing and research skills
- Experience with historical research methods/sources and writing speeches/presentations
- Experience assisting with a range of administrative tasks.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
